WORKSPACE FUNDING BRINGS HOLIDAY FUN TO LOCAL KIDS
Ever year Queens Cross Workspace uses our surplus to fund and support local initiatives that make a real difference in the community. One of the projects which we provide funding for is the kids holiday programme, this initiative provides local children with a fun programme of activities during the school break. It ensures that children have a safe space to play and learn and allows parents to be able to work without the burden of expensive child care.
Children who attend the programme receive nutritious meals and snacks during their day and get to take part in a range of activities, for example previously the kids have taken part in kite making, talent shows, mug painting, tie die t-shirts and lots of outdoor play! The kids often go to the Claypits and take part in forest school activities provided by a qualified instructor. Here the kids get to experience chopping firewood, hand drilling, learning about wildlife and making campfire popcorn. The activities provided at the holiday programme support the kids learning, creativity and physical activity.
Parents of the children who have attended previously said that the holiday programme has benefitted their family by:
Providing new experiences for their children
Allowing their children to meet friends
Helping with the cost of food
Allowing them to work without paying for full-time child care
Allowing them to carry out caring responsibilities at home
The kids holiday programme is just one example of how Queens Cross Workspace supports the local community, ensuring that local families have access to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
